Horses syndicated, owned and managed by Barry Irwin since 1987 went over the earnings plateau, which prior to the race at stood at $39,837,421. In addition to the milestone crafted by Unbridled Belle, the victory in the historic weight-for-age fall Classic pushed the stable’s seasonal earnings to $3,342,216, making it the third-highest year for earnings. With the stable being only $134,567 shy of the record, the mark figures to be gone during the month of October, when Team Valor International will be represented by 3 runners in the lucrative Breeders’ Cup World Championship at Monmouth Park racetrack in New Jersey. Unbridled Belle herself became the stable’s latest millionaire. The Kentucky-bred 4-year-old filly, who will remain in training next season, joins other Team Valor millionaire fillies Ipi Tombe and Irridescence, a pair of South African imports that were also Grade 1 winners. Unbridled Belle must have a good chance to pass the $1.8 million earned by Irridescence and the $1.4 million earned by Ipi Tombe. One record Team Valor would like to eclipse is the stable’s mark of 21 stakes wins established in 1993. The stable has won 16 added-money events so far this season, of which 10 are Graded events, including Grade 1 wins by Unbridled Belle and Little Miss Magic in South Arica. Twelve Team Valor International runners have won stakes this season. The stable has won 16 stakes and placed in 22 other stakes races. |
