BARRY IRWIN-SYNDICATED HORSES REACH TWO NEW MILESTONES, MILLER TIME’S WIN IS NUMBER 600 FOR IRWIN-SYNDICATED RUNNER, STAKES WIN NUMBER 175 FOR RUNNER SYNDICATED BY VALOR PREXY
Miller Time's victory in the Sophomore Sprint is stable's 600th win and 175th stakes win. |
When Miller Time crossed under the line first on Tuesday in the Sophomore Sprint Stakes at Kenilworth race course in South Africa, he was winning race number 600 and stakes race number 175 for a horse syndicated since 1987 by Barry Irwin, principal of Team Valor International.
“Of the 600 wins, 175 have come in stakes races, for a ratio of 29.2 percent,” noted Team Valor’s Amy Collingsworth.
In the last 21 racing seasons, 313 individual horses have raced for a partnership formed by Irwin. Among those, Miller Time became stakes winner number 88, for a strike rate of 28 percent.
Miller Time is stakes winner number 11 to represent Team Valor in 2007, which also has sent out 7 stakes-placed runners for 18 stakes horses in all.
The win was number 14 in a stakes race for Team Valor, which also has placed in 20 other stakes races this year.
With more than $2.7 million in seasonal earnings, Barry Irwin’s horses are on the threshold of yet another milestone, this being the $40-million mark in earnings, a plateau that could be reached by year’s end.
