Gypsy's Warning, born at Rathmor Stud in South Africa, was produced by the mating of Mogok, a Storm Cat half-brother to Machiavellian, with Gypsy Queen, a full-sister to a winner of the South African Oaks.

Her career at age two saw her race 5 times and earn 2 wins and 2 placings, including a Grade 1 win and Grade 1 third. At this point, she caught the eye of Barry Irwin who added her to the Team Valor stable in South Africa.

She started 6 more times in her native land, winning or placing in all 6 efforts. Among these, she earned another Grade 1 victory (South African Fillies Classic) and two more Grade 1 placings (Empress Club and Woolavington Stakes).

Seen to be of the highest quality of racehorse, Gypsy's Warning exported to America to the barn of Graham Motion, and picked up right where she left off with a gutsy victory in the Grade 3 Eatontown Stakes at Monmouth over Breeders' Cup winner Maram.

Gypsy's Warning placed third in a pair of Grade 1 events, The Beverly D and the Yellow Ribbon, both times beaten less than two lengths. She then finished off 2010 with a rousing win in the Grade 1 Matriarch at Hollywood Park, becoming the first South African-bred runner to win a US Grade 1 race since Team Valor's former campaigner Crimson Palace turned the trick six years earlier in the 2004 Beverly D.

Gypsy's Warning was sold as a broodmare prospect at Keeneland in November of 2011 for more than a million dollars.
