Team Valor International purchased Summer Soiree following her scintillating win in the Bourbonette Stakes which is run at Turfway Park on their all-weather surface. Brought back in the Kentucky Oaks, Summer Soiree disappointed. So Irwin plotted out a new strategy and a new campaign was developed on the turf.

Summer Soiree's turf debut was a jaw-dropping romp in the Grade 3 Boiling Springs Stakes at Monmouth. As is her usual style, she pressed for the lead and took over after going 2 furlongs. From there, she increased the margin over the pursuing fillies, adding more daylight with every pole until she crossed the wire 8 1/2 lengths to the good.

Summer Soiree then shipped to California for the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks going 9 furlongs on the turf. Another filly set the pace, but Summer Soiree took over after a half-mile, skipping clear to a nearly 6-length advantage, daring all to catch her if they could. In the stretch, the pursuing pack advanced furiously, but Summer Soiree had the race timed to perfection and still was a half-length in front of Star Billing at the wire.

Star Billing reversed the positions two races later over Summer Soiree in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes at Hollywood Park, a race in which Summer Soiree would place again, in her final career outing in 2012.

Summer Soiree retired to the breeding shed and was bred to leading stallion Medaglia d'Oro in the Spring of 2013.
